POET ON RAMPAGE DAY 5- ALARIWISI*

Bolaji ko dara
Debisi ko suwon
Simbi ku die kaato
Ata ko to
Iyo ko dun
Alariwisi
There’s always something with everything

The sky should have been green
The moon purple
The sun should have been blue
The stars red

He sings like a frog
She snores like a toad
He writes like a chicken
She walks like a duck

They have built themselves a pen for a house
A moving box for a car
Relics of servitude for clothes
Workman hooves for shoes

No one ever does any good
No one ever measures up
Alariwisi
You charge on with toxic causticity
Leaving misery in your wake
Alariwisi
There’s always something with everything
Always something with everyone.

Alariwisi

*Alariwisi is a Yoruba term for a Fault-finder.
