Hallos. So I’ve been meaning to try out this childhood treat on my own for a while. It’s called Sisi Pelebe by the way. I combined and redefined an online recipe and mama’s recipe to achieve this. For the fun of it, Sisi Pelebe translates to ‘slender lady’ but hey this is no human, this is Food. Lol! Let’s do this.
Put pan on fire and roast raw groundnuts for about two minutes
Remove from fire and peel off the skin
Crush in an Asanka (that’s a Ghanaian grinding pot)
In other news, put your pan on fire again and mix in a little water, honey and sugar.
Bring to a boil.
Stir in the crushed nuts and keep stirring
When solidified, keep turning till browned a bit.
In yet, other news, oil a stainless flat plate or tray
Spread out the paste and smoothen.
Cut into desired shapes and sizes and allow to cool.
Voila your Sisi Pelebe!
